Senator John McCain didn't seem to grasp this either, but your message reached his desk loud and clear.
Bush's decision was based in part because the bill would reduce payments to private Medicare Advantage plans offered by insurance companies. And as many of those companies are staunch supporters of the Bush administration, the president chose to side with them rather than Medicare patients.
When our Congress gathers to vote on the override of the president's veto, he'll find out once again not to underestimate the power of concerned activists like Healthcare United and others who are standing together to ensure that Medicare keeps working for seniors, the disabled and military families.
